About Unblock That
The sliding block classic, competently done. A red block has to leave the board and everything else is in its way; blocks travel only along their own axis, so this is an ordering problem rather than a spatial one. Four difficulty tiers, and a move counter watching you throughout.
How to play
- Slide the other blocks aside so the red one can reach the exit.
- Each block moves only along its own length, never sideways.
- Solve using as few moves as possible, since the count is what the game grades.
- Difficulty runs from beginner to expert and sets how tangled the starting position is.
Tips
- Work backwards from the exit. Ask which block is immediately blocking the red one, then what is blocking that, and the sequence usually falls out by itself.
- Move counts improve by cutting wasted shuffling, not by finding a cleverer idea. Once you can solve a board at all, replay it and remove the moves that changed nothing.
