About Classic Klondike Solitaire
Klondike, described by the publisher in exactly the terms it deserves: a single 52-card deck, and the job of getting every card onto its suit pile in ascending order from ace to king. This is the solitaire people mean when they say solitaire, with nothing layered on top of it.
How to play
- Play with one standard deck of 52 cards.
- Build four piles, one for each suit -- diamonds, clubs, hearts and spades.
- Each pile runs in ascending order, ace first and king last.
- The game is finished when every card has reached its suit.
Tips
- Ascending order makes the low cards the bottleneck. Until an ace is out, nothing in that suit can move, so opening the aces is worth more than tidying the rest of the table.
- Four suits have to finish, not one. Spreading progress across all of them keeps more legal moves available than driving a single suit as far as it will go.
