About Runaway Toad

A swamp-hopping escape game with procedurally generated levels built out of hand-made pieces. Toad has left the princess's castle and is running; blimps and owls are among what chases him. Bugs eaten along the way grant powers, and more than a hundred missions turn the running into goals rather than distance.

How to play

• Hop Toad through the swamp while avoiding blimps, owls and the other hazards.
• The controls are single-finger: tap, hold and swipe.
• Eating bugs earns new powers.
• More than a hundred missions set objectives beyond survival, and completing them unlocks new toads.
• The swamps are procedurally generated, so layouts differ between runs.

Tips

• Play the missions rather than the distance. They are what unlock new toads, and chasing a personal best rarely completes any of them.
• Because the swamps are generated, memorising a route is wasted effort. Learn what each hazard does instead, since that carries between runs.
