How to play
- Two players take turns placing their mark on a three-by-three grid.
- The first to line up three marks -- across, down or diagonally -- wins.
- When all nine squares are filled the game is over.
- If nobody has three in a row by then, it is a draw.
Tips
- Between two people paying attention, every game is a draw. That is the game rather than a fault in it, and the interest is entirely in whether your opponent is paying attention.
- The centre square sits on more winning lines than any other square, which is why the opening move is barely a decision.
