Not a game with maths in it but a teaching tool in a game shape. The whole subject is mean, median, mode and range, which is also where the title comes from. It is aimed at school-age learners and makes no pretence of being for anybody else, which is more useful than the alternative.

How to play

• You are given sets of numbers to work with.
• Find the mean, the median, the mode and the range of each set.
• The publisher frames it as a learning tool for children and teenagers rather than as entertainment.

Tips

• Sort the set before doing anything else. Median and mode both fall straight out of an ordered list, and range becomes a single subtraction.
• If you are using this to teach, the four measures stay apart in a learner's head more easily when you explain what each one is for rather than how it is calculated.
